The Pontifex Campaign
In the far galactic east lies the Pontifex system.
Little known by the average imperial system, it is nevertheless a hellish battle front on the outskirts of the Imperium of Man.
In the Pontifex system lies only three inhabited worlds.
Pyranthax IX: A former forgeworld, left by the Adeptus Mechanicus after the core hardened from the massive geothermal furnace activity on the planet. No longer able to sustain a full-blown contigent from the Adeptus Mechanicus, the ashwastes of Pyranthax have been taken over by the Adeptus Terra. Many secrets lay in the old forges and the Mechanicum may have forgotten where they placed them all. A few towering Hives rise up through the gloom of the polluted atmosphere of the old forgeworld.
Pontifex Maximus: A major entry point for stable warp travel lies just in the vicinity of the gas giant Pontifex Maximus, which is also used for mining operations. The starport Pontifex Secundus lies on the second moon of the planet, and this is a cold unforgiving rock circling forever on the dark side of its parent, never seeing the star of Pontifex.
The meager forces of the Imperium in the system have been substantially boosted by the presence of two chapters of the Adeptus Astartes, the mighty Space Wolves and Blood Angels, but the foes they face are legion. In addition the Dark Angels also have a small presence in the system, but their objectives are as yet unknown.
An almost unending wave of Tyranids from Hive Fleet Hune threaten to devour the system as the tendrils of the Great Devourer reach towards the life of the system intent upon feasting on the biomass of the system.
Orks have also invaded the system with Warlord Nazgut Wazog at the head of his Waaghh, they present a genuine threat, but also a possibility to halt the forces of the Tyranids.
Dark Eldar of the Silver Flame Kabal prowl the edges of the system, slaves to their whims and fancies, harrying the faithful citizens of the Imperium.
